When I first laid eyes on the piece that had to come home with me, I had a visceral response and felt as though I was taking a trip into my past. Jana had composed 3 Colorado Springs scenes as a trio. These were of the Navaho Hogan, Herman’s Plumbing, and the art deco Garage at North Corona and Columbia. I’m the 5 th generation of my family to grow up in Colorado Springs, you can say the city is definitely in my heart and soul. I knew I could not walk away that night without at least one of them. Jana is a very supportive, encouraging, and knowledgeable teacher. Her teaching style quieted my fears and emboldened me to make art my way, intuitively.
