Yellow Couch Sketch Hunters - In-Person Outdoors
Instructor Jana L. Bussanich explores downtown Colorado Springs Hunting Sketches. Learn to keep an art/travel journal using pen and wash techniques with permanent ink and watercolor. During these instructor-led walking tours, participants will make loose sketches and paint scenes of downtown Colorado Springs in personal art journals.
Each tour starts offsite at Jana L. Bussanich Art Studio located at 218 W. Colorado Avenue, under the bridge. Arrive at 12:50 p.m. to meet members of the group. Groups will depart on foot at 1:00 p.m., returning by 3:00 p.m.
New students welcome! This class is appropriate for all levels, beginner to advanced. Students under 16 are welcome and must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.
Current watercolor technique and color theory students are encouraged to shift away from their usual practice and acquire new knowledge and skill during this course
This activity includes urban walking, stairs, sketching, and painting outdoors or in local shops, libraries, parks, museums, and other public spaces. Bring a water bottle, wear comfortable shoes and weather-appropriate clothing.
MATERIALS
- Bring Sketchbook (#140 cold press watercolor paper recommended)
- Fine-tip Permanent Marker
- Watercolor Paint Kit
- Brush
- Water Pot
- Mister
- Paper towel
- Mixing Tray or Palette
- Other mediums like colored pencils, water-soluble pastels, and watercolor markers.

*Due to COVID-19 Social Distancing requirements, classes are limited to 8 students. Classes take place out-of-doors, masks are required. Hand sanitizer will be provided on the premises.
